Seva Bharati Meghalaya Bookbank Meeting Pynursla, Meghalaya, India
Seva Bharati Meghalaya Bookbank Meeting Pynursla, Meghalaya, India: Imagine a childhood without books. A world without, even the necessary school books would seem pretty bleak to many children around us.
Like food and shelter, literacy too is a basic human need that many of the families go without. The Literacy Volunteers of Community Book Bank Program in Khasi and Jaintia Hills region, work hard to provide new and used book donations to local schools and community programs, catering to the children in need.
The Book bank program has proved resourceful for the adults, many of whom, can now read out to their children or grandchildren, because they have improved their own literacy skills. It’s like a food bank, but instead of cans, the shelves are lined with stories.
Seva Bharati has started this program back in 2013 , thanks to the support received for our community book bank program in the khasi and jaintia hills region from various generous donors.
Seva Bharati would like to appeal to every individual to support us with used and new books as donations for this Book Bank program. Let’s take an oath to make a 100% literate society by 2025.
